No. FoldingLink uses NAS as the physical entry point for a real DeSocial network: storage, P2P sharing, and community app flows work together.
Do I need to buy new hardware?
No. FoldingLink Box gives the easiest node experience, but existing NAS users can install the server image and connect to the FoldingLink app.
What makes a NAS become a node?
A local P2P service layer runs on the NAS, giving it node identity, encrypted peer channels, content routing, and app connectivity.

No. The FoldingLink app requires no phone number, email, or verification code to sign up. Your identity lives on your node, not on our servers.
Who owns my content?
You do. Content is published from your own node. Copyright is traceable back to you. Your fan relationships, community interactions, and data are not controlled by any platform.

NAS is a low-power, always-on dedicated Linux server — the ideal physical carrier for a decentralized network. With P2P protocol built in, every FoldingLink Box connects directly node-to-node, with no central server relay required.
What content types does the app support?
FoldingLink supports images, text, and video — true multi-modal publishing. Most decentralized platforms today only support text; we built multi-modal from the ground up.
What can I do with my FoldingLink Box beyond storage?
Private storage, remote access, P2P file distribution, distributed backup, and local AI that can search and categorize your stored content — all running on hardware you control.
How does the creator exchange system work?
Creators can set point-based access to their content. Fans acquire content directly from the creator's node. Downloads, saves, and comments become real market signals — not platform-filtered metrics.
What happens if one node goes offline?
Your data is distributed across multiple nodes with peer-to-peer sync. Even if one device goes offline, your content remains accessible from other nodes in the network.
